My name is Kale Murdock and I am the owner and lead photographer at Murdock Creative Studios.  I was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, and in 2015 I immigrated to South Africa permanently and have been providing professional photographic services for commercial, editorial, and personal use in the Durban area, as well as across the country and internationally.

 

My photographic style reflects my 15 years of work experience and my travels abroad - capturing moments in stills and videos for others to enjoy.  Having first cut my teeth in the field as a photojournalist and independent documentarian, it defined my shooting style as raw, cinematic, documentary-style, and gonzo in nature. I favour the use of natural and environmental light, non-conventional methods and am very candid in my shooting.

After successfully graduating from the School of Media at Algonquin College in 2006, I quickly took on freelance and volunteer projects . I have worked behind the camera shooting and directing field news, sporting events and have also directed,  produced and written for short films and independent documentaries. I  have also spent a fair share of time in front of the camera:  in news segments, working as a news field gatherer/reporter, TV host, providing voice-overs and even blended into the background as a movie extra.

 

I enjoy working with both well-established brands as well as small start-ups to help them showcase themselves visually in a way that matches their own personal styles and agendas.  I do this by creating effective and captivating content. I specialize in lifestyle, editorial, product and fashion photography. I also facilitate photoshoot production as well as product styling.
